Reston Train Station, Scotland

A well-executed transport facade project in Scotland, Reston Train Station features Aerolite Stonework granite supported on the TI-DF2 kerf system. The specification provides a durable, low-maintenance external finish suited to a new-build rail station, while also delivering the clean, contemporary appearance expected from a high-quality rainscreen facade solution.

With a project size of 500m², the scheme represents a substantial facade installation and highlights the use of factory-cut granite panels with a fully engineered support system. The project team included Storey Construction Ltd as main contractor, Metaltech Ltd as installation contractor, and IDP as architect, helping bring together the design, technical and installation expertise needed for a strong end result.

A key feature of the project is the way the facade was designed to suit a coastal Scottish environment, with robust detailing around openings and interfaces to support long-term weather performance. The facade solution was also coordinated with platforms, canopies and wider station infrastructure, helping deliver a high-quality passenger environment alongside reliable long-term performance.
