A high-quality education facade project in Birmingham, Birmingham University features Total Stone supported on the PF-ALU-PL system. The specification delivers a robust and refined external finish suited to a major university setting, while also providing the durability and low-maintenance performance expected from a well-engineered rainscreen facade solution.
With a project size of 1,540m², the scheme represents a substantial facade installation. The project team included Willmott Dixon Ltd as main contractor, Sage BEC Ltd as installation contractor, and BDP as architect, bringing together the design, technical and delivery expertise needed for a strong end result.
A key feature of the project is the use of off-site fabricated Total Stone panels and a fully engineered support system, helping achieve efficient installation, consistent joint lines and accurate setting-out. The facade solution was also developed in close collaboration with the wider project team to coordinate with glazing, feature elements and adjacent building fabric, creating a coherent and contemporary appearance across the elevation.
